I am on the PI/Integration Services team in my company and interface with the BODS team by setting up transfer jobs to get or put data on FTP sites (or other destinations/sources). On a current project I have a job that pulls data files and drops to a folder where BODS can load. I am being told I need to provide a script that will archive the file in the load folder prior to delivery of a new file.
I am not familiar with the capabilities of the BODS file handler, but I do work with the SAP PI File communication channel. In that system I am able to specify the Archive destination so that after the handler is complete it can move the file from the "IN" directory to the archive directory.
Is this not a capability of BODS (current version 4.0, in process of upgrade to 4.2)?
It seems that I am going to introduce new issues by having a separate script perform file archiving: (a) What if BODS job is disabled/errors and the file is not completed processing and the script archives the file; or (b) what if the file is in process when the script runs, not sure if it will be able to move, or if it does this may cause a BODS handling exception.
Thanks for the help in determining if I should develop a script or if I should request the BODS team to further investigate file handling capabilities on that platform.
