We have recently installed BODS 4.2 and are struggling to sort out our promotion process. We have started to use the object promotion functionality in the Data Service Management Console and have successfully promoted projects and datastores.
We have now come to a sticking point where the datastores have their passwords set to null. I understand that this is by design however it does not seem possible to enter a new password. Any changes made simply revert back to the default configuration. I have check the manuals and have ensured that the user is both an administrator and is in the Data services administrator group and has the relevant manage promotion objects grant but still no luck.
Can anybody shed any light on what we are doing wrong?

Our process is as follows:
1) Create project with datastore in designer
2) Commit project to dev central repository
3) Use dev management console to export project and export datastore
4) Use pprd (pre-production) management console to import project and datastore
5) In pprd management console go to Administrator > Management > Datastore > [name of datastore]
6) Try to type in password (or make any changes)
7) Click Apply button
8) Screen returns with "Success" written at the top but all the information reverts to the defaults (i.e. the password disappears).
