Background: Existing server with BOE/BI 4.1 SP4 PL3 and Data Services 4.2 SP3 PL1. Customer want to split out DS to second server, in order to fully utilize Licenses for DS.
We are setting up scenario 2 from the master guide (http://help.sap.com/download/documentation/bods_42_sp/ds_is_42_master_en/frameset.htm?579180896d6d1014b3fc9283b0e91070.html ).
The guide says this about installation of IPS (server 2 / new DS-server):
- To start the installation, follow the procedure in the SAP BusinessObjects Information platform services Installation Guide.
- Select the Custom/Expand installation type.
- Select the Web Tier category of components.
Should all other categories/Components be deselected? I don't see how only the web tier will serve the purpose of connecting DS to BOE on the other server (which should be the purpose of IPS). For instance, the SIA node is not included if I only install the web tier? Or is the point of installing IPS that IPS will use the central SIA node on the BOE/BI server?
I thought that if it was one component that did not need to be reinstalled, it was Tomcat and the web layer...
Anyone out there with knowledge / experience with this?
