I am experimenting with SAP Lumira personal edition to get some insight into dat visualisation. I am encouraging other people to join me in this exploration. Part of that exploration is using a common data set (inside MS-Excel) which I share with them.
So I want to get data out of various databases into MS-Excel so it can be shared. I want to use Data Services 4.2 to prepare the data. But I'm being reliably informed that Data Services cannot use MS-Excel as a target. Really?
Now I could use SQL Server SSIS to do this - but I have Data Services, which is a much better ETL tool!
I realise I can workaround this by writing data to a delimited text file, and then import that file into Excel, but this adds manual steps I want to avoid. Plus I want to put data in separate tabs in the same spreadsheet, so this adds more manual work.
Surely the leading ETL tool can push data into an Excel spreadsheet?
